Endometriosis

Infertility is a term which is used to describe a condition when a women faces difficulty to conceive. If a woman, is unable to have a child even after a year of trying consistently, this too without resorting to the use of any birth control measures, it can be said then that the woman is experiencing conditions of infertility. There are several causes that have been held responsible for infertility. These include life- style and the use of addictive substances. However, there are some significant physiological causes too which effect conditions of fertility. Endometriosis is a condition in which tissues lining the surface of the uterus start appearing else where.

Endometriosis is one of the causes of female infertility. In this condition the endometrial tissue, the tissue of the inside walls of the uterus, starts growing outside. It starts attaching itself to the other organs present in the abdominal cavity. These are namely the ovary and the fallopian tubes. Endometriosis is a disease which tends to aggravate with time.

A woman inflicted with Endometriosis, starts experiencing the following symptoms. These include pain during menstruation and intercourse. The pain persists for a long period of time. A woman might bleed heavily during her periods too.

Statistics show that 20 % women with Endometriosis, have been trying to conceive and have not yet succeeded. Various other studies have revealed that women with reported cases of Endometriosis, conceive with great difficulty. Miscarriages are also common in women suffering from Endometriosis.

In this case, women are prescribed the drug clomid or serophene. This could increase their chances of conceiving. However, the fact remains that physicians have not been able to diagnose any perfect cause for Endometriosis. Thereby, one single treatment which could cure Endometriosis, fully is yet to be developed. Therefore, treatment is administered by seeing what suits the patient most. For many women this could mean a combination of different modes of treatment.

Treatment of Endometriosis, could range between the use of pain killers, to taking recourse to nutritional therapy to even surgery. There is hormonal treatment provided for this condition too.

It is believed that the hormone- Oestrogen tends to worsen the symptoms related to Endometriosis. Subsequently, hormonal treatment is provided to her. This helps to temper the levels of Oestrogen, in her system. This could help to provide her some relief from the symptoms of Endometriosis, which engulf her. This therapy is provided in the form of prescribed drugs.

Do talk to your gynecologist, on the type of treatment would suit you the most. Your doctor would inform you thereby on what are your chances of conceiving. Remember, there is hope for all those women, who are having difficulty in conceiving.
