Autistic babies show many kinds of developmental disorder. This disorder can even affect children of different ages. These babies face major hurdle in development. Autistic babies show irregularities in their relationship with different members of the society. Their interactions with the different members of the society are also different from that of other kinds of babies. These babies express irregularities in their use of language. They find it very difficult to communicate with the persons around them. Interests and activities of the autistic babies are also noticeably deviated from the interests and activities of the normal children.

When a child starts to exhibit unusual behavior in all three aforesaid ways, the signs of autism becomes noticeable. Previously, the experts were undecided about the symptoms of autism but now it has been settled that those children who show irregularities in their behavior are considered as autistic children. All the aforesaid disorders are considered as autism spectrum disorder.

Causes of autism in babies
There are many causes of autism in babies. It is caused as a result of perinatal anoxia. This may also occur due to immune intolerance. Autism in babies may also be caused by metabolic disorder. Viral germs may also be responsible for autism in babies. Autistic babies may sometime be the outcome of chromosomal abnormality or genetic abnormality. For the successful treatment of autism, it is needed that this disease should be diagnosed as early as possible.

Autism in children may most often be diagnosed by the community nurses. Nurses working with the children may find the symptoms of autism in the behavioral pattern of the babies. Autistic babies often show learning disabilities. So, children who suffer from additional learning difficulties should be watched closely by the nurses in order to find out if they are showing any symptom of autism.

Symptoms of autism in babies


Difficulty in hearing Many children suffering from autism show problems of hearing. It has often been noticed that children suffering from autism can not even hear a very loud sound.

Tendency to avoid gazing
Children suffering from autism try to avoid gazing. Autistic children do not want to look straight at a person's face around them. Even if they watch people around them, they do so only for a brief period.
