Previously it was seen that Type-2 diabetes was limited to adults. But now it has been detected that Type-2 diabetes can also affect children and young people. Type-2 diabetes is caused due to excessive weight gain in children and adolescents. Overweight problems in babies gradually lead to obese adults.

Besides afecting physically, overweight problem in babies can also result in some mental problems. Children suffering from obesity generally suffer from poor self-esteem. Moreover, sudden weight gain in children often cause depression in their minds. Overweight problem in babies makes them unfit for exercises and all kinds of sports and games. Hence, the overweight problem leads to social discrimination. Even some forms of cancers are also caused by the overweight problem in babies.

Causes of overweight problem in babies
Unhealthy eating habit and lack of physical activities are primarily responsible for the overweight problem in babies. Sometimes, even hormonal imbalance in children, teenagers or adults lead to the problem of overweight.

Thyroid is the most common cause of gaining weight. Hypothyroidism is related with weight gain. The thyroid gland helps in proper stimulation of metabolism. With lack of sufficient thyroid hormone, children or adults gain excessive weight.
