Pregnancy Morning Sickness

Morning sickness is one of the early signs an expecting mother experiences during pregnancy. These early signs like morning sickness are mostly accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Even though this morning sickness pregnancy signs can be escaped my many women altogether, there are 50-80% pregnant women who experience this symptom. Even though the term suggests so, morning sickness during pregnancy is not limited to the mornings only and the similar symptom can be experienced in any part of the day. Nausea can hit you any time of the day, often when you haven’t eaten enough and there is a drop in your blood sugar level.

Nausea associated with morning sickness is very common during the early days of your pregnancy and it can be felt anytime between the gaps of 4th and 6th weeks. In most cases the symptoms disappear within the 14th and the 16th weeks. However, cases are not uncommon when women face morning sickness during their entire pregnancy period. The morning sickness factor is highly governed by the fluctuations in the pregnancy hormones and nausea and vomiting results from hyper sensitivity to smell.

In many cases of pregnancy, morning sickness can take serious turns and might even need hospitalization to bring the body weight in control and restore the lost body fluids. This severe case of morning sickness is termed Hyperemesis Gravidarum. During this a women will experience persistent vomiting and a fifth the body weight can be lost. These in turn result in vitamin deficiency and dehydration and in many cases affect the social and physical health of the patient.

However, according to what the doctors have to say-morning sickness are not entirely bad. Frequent or less, morning sickness are in a way good for the forming baby. It only ensures proper nutrition for the baby.
Some remedies to fight morning sickness is chewing ginger, listening to pleasant music, increase the fluid intake and eat in small amounts whenever hungry.
