One of the most important phase in the lives of women , Pregnancy , is the demanding period in terms of the body and mind. During this time the intake of proper food and nutrition is a must for the body to be able to cope up with the pressure of a new life being created within. The quality of nutrition and the food consumed plays a major role in shaping the future of the child. Among the many nutrients that needs to be consumed during pregnancy, the intake of fats is very important. For those diet conscious people who are to become would mothers, ignoring complete fat intake can be detrimental to the child's overall development. So the intake of fats has to be taken into consideration while charting out diet requirements during pregnancy.

The fundamental reason that is responsible for the intake of fats is, fat provides the energy source that is required for making the cells and the tissues functional along with shaping their structures too. The intake of fats is also necessary for transporting the vitamins like A, D, E & K.
The period of pregnancy is crucial for the development of the cells and the tissues of the babies so fat intake is an important contribution for the over all well being the child to be born.

Recommended daily intake of fats level:
According the doctors , exceeding 30 percent of fat intake during pregnancy is not desirable for a child's health. Essential fats like fatty acids , oils are more useful rather than fats sourced out of animals.

Take a look at some of the good sources of fat:
Pulses, cereals & nuts: Margarine, walnuts, peanuts, plant oils, hazelnuts.
Animal products: Meats, milk, cheese, butter, oily fish, egg yolks.

Though the intake of fat in moderate amount is recommended care should be taken about over consumption which may lead to serious complications during delivery.
