Fetal Monitoring is a procedure by which a device is implemented to determine the baby’s heart rate as symptoms of stress especially during labor and birth. It is done with the help of electronic device. Apart from the heart beat rate the uterine connections are also detected. Fetal Monitoring Pregnancy is of two types. These are external fetal monitoring and internal fetal monitoring.
At the time of labor pain and birth, external fetal monitoring means the process of detection of baby’s heartbeat by placing a small round ultrasound disc with a gel put on mother’s abdomen, which is supported by light weight stretchable band or belt. In this regard this type of fetal monitoring clearly indicates how long both mother is able to take the tension of this type of monitoring.
Just prior to giving birth to a baby the mother arrives at the clinic or the hospital. Immediately on arrival the initial assessment of both the mother and the baby is done. If the condition of the baby and the mother is found satisfactorily then the mother is advised by the consultant to move out for the operation theatre by walking. If any complication is traceable then the mother is not allowed to walk, instead taken to the concerned place by wheel chair.
Contrarily Internal Fetal Monitoring determines other vital organs of the mother and the baby. This type of fetal monitoring should be done restrainedly. Otherwise there might arise impediments on any vital organs of both mother and the baby.
