b-HCG Production

The b-HCG is an important pregnancy hormone and plays certain crucial roles during pregnancy period. The b-HCG Production happens from the trophoblast cells of the placenta. It starts after a few days of conception which is considered in medical terms as the early stage of development. After completion of b-HCG production, it enters the maternal circulation. This automatic biological process happens immediately after embryo implantation on the 21st day of the menstrual cycle.

The b-HCG is a quite powerful hormone and it is eight times more potent than that of the Lutenizing hormone (LH) which is produced from the pituitary glands. LH is considered as sister hormone of the b-HCG. The b-HCG production does not happen at a great extent but it is so powerful that very tiny amount is sufficient to stimulate the corpus luteum of the ovary for producing progesterone.

In this context one crucial factor has to be kept in mind that 10 days aftermath ovulation production of progesterone hormone will automatically drop down. Due to sudden reduction in the hormone secretion rate supply of oxygen from blood vessels will automatically decrease and it will lead to prompt start of the menstruation period. After completion of this menstruation period released egg is fertilized and it manages to implant itself into the uterine wall.

From this period onwards, main function of b-HCG commences. After the b-HCG production, this hormone is released from the developing placenta and casts effect on the Yellow Body. It actually helps to produce both progesterone and estrogen. During its functioning, it prevents commencement of another menstrual cycle and checks further eggs from being released.

So, it is clear that one of the major functions of b-HCG production is to accelerate secretion of the progesterone. Progesterone is one of the is an indispensable hormone during pregnancy and it serves various crucial functions.

It helps in development of the endometrium and also fights against unwanted cells which can cause damage to the fetus or placenta. Maintenance of the functions of the placenta is also done accordingly by this hormone.

Testing of b-HCG:

For various reasons testing of b-HCG is necessary. If it is proved through your urine pregnancy test that everything is positive and situation is of low risk then doctors do not go for quantitative b-HCG taste. But if the taste shows that there are risk factors for miscarriage or tubal pregnancy, then serum b-HCG values can be helpful on many occasions, for avoiding the risk factors.
