Production

Proper Estrogen Production is very much essential for the body. Though present in both men and women the level of the hormone is higher in reproductive women. Estrogen a steroid hormone is also regarded a s female primary sex hormone. The major types of estrogens like estradiol, estriol and estron are produced in different parts of the body. The production of these hormones increases and decreases from time to time depending on body conditions. Estrogen Production takes part in different areas of the body. Some of these parts are considered a primary source for Estrogen Production while the others are known as secondary source of Estrogen Production.

Primary source of Estrogen Production

The primary sources of Estrogen Production include the corpus lectum, placenta and ovary. The development of follicles in these parts of the body lead to Estrogen Production. Thus the development of follicles have a direct relation with the production of Estrogen,. The amount of Estrogen Production from these parts of the body are the maximum. Thus in a woman capable of reproduction, the primary source of estrogen are the main source fro the hormone. In ovaries, luteinizing hormone or LT and follicle stimulating hormone or FSH act as stimulants in Estrogen Production.

Secondary sources of Estrogen Production

The secondary sources of Estrogen Production includes some tissues in the body. These tissues include liver, breasts as well as adrenal glands. For the women who have crossed the menopausal stage these kind of secondary sources of the hormone is very important. They do not have adequate estrogen from the primary source of the hormone so the secorndary ources becoem more importat for them.

Process of Estrogen Production
The process of Estrogen Production begins in the theca interna cell in the ovary.

The process begins with the synthesis of androstenedione from cholesterol. Adrostenedione is crosses the basal membrane and enters into the granulosa cells. In these cells the compound transforms itself into estrone or estrodiol. The formation and conversion of testosterone is also an important part of the process. In the conversion an enzyme named aromatase plays the role of a catalyst.

Estrogen Production level
The Estrogen Production level increases and drops in several stages at the time of mestrual cycles.just before the time of ovulation the level of Estrogen Production is the highest. In other stages the level of production ranges from moderate to low.
