About Insulin:
Insulin is an animal hormone whose occurrence informs the cells of the body regarding nutrition aspect of the body. This particular hormone is responsible for causing liver and muscle cells to take in glucose and store it in the form of glycogen. Again this causes the fat cells to intake blood lipids thus turning them to triglycerides. Besides, there are several other anabolic effects throughout the body. The secretion of insulin takes place basically as a response to the higher levels of glucose blood concentrations. The main function of Insulin involves in facilitating the entry of glucose in the body cells. Increased blood concentrations and neutral stimuli of several other fuel molecules are responsible for promoting Insulin secretion. The amino acids and fatty acids are also included in this.
Mechanism of Insulin secretion:
Though the mechanism of Insulin secretion still remains to be explored on advanced basis, there are certain features which have been yielded by common model. The glucose is transported into the beta cell and is facilitated by diffusion through glucose transporter. The elevated glucose concentrations in extracellular fluid pave way for raised concentrations of glucose within beta cells. This ultimately leads to membrane depolarization and an influx of extracellular calcium. There is an increase in intracellular calcium which is considered a basic reason for trigerring exocytosis of Insulin which contains secretory granules.

| Though the real mechanism which is involved in depolarization action has not been clearly understood, it is presumed that depolarization happens as a result of metabolism of glucose and other cell fuel molecules. The increased level of glucose within beta cells also appears and activates pathways which are Calcium independent, participating in Insulin secretion.

Among several conditions in which Insulin disturbance can be unhealthy, the mentionable ones are, Diabetes mellitus which is characterized by hyperglycemia. It also includes, Insulinoma or reactive hypoglycemia. The Polycystic ovary syndrome is another complex syndrome that needs to be checked on regular basis.
