During the time of menopause, the LH production takes place in a continual form so as to make up for the low level or complete absence of estrogen during this time. Sometimes, this high level of LH production leads to severe and complicated situations during menopause.
In males, the production of LH takes place in the pituitary gland but this does not play as significant a role as that in the female body. However, this hormone helps in the synthesis and production of testosterone which in turn is crucial in the formation of sperms.
