Progesterone Production levels

During the preovulatory phase of menstruation cycles the level of Progesterone Production are relatively low. As ovulation takes place the level increases. During the luteal phase the level also stays elevated. Initially during pregnancy the Progesterone Production level is the same as in the luteal phase but gradually the level starts rising to a further level. Where in preovulatory period the progesterone level stays at 2ng/ml, during pregnancy, the level rises to 100-200ng/ml.

As a result of this hormone the contractlity of the uterine smooth muscles are decreased. Progesterone Production also inhibits lactation at the time of pregnancy. The drop in the level of Progesterone Production results into the beginning of labor.

Progesterone Production helps to improve memory and other cognitive. It also affects the regulation of the genes that are known as apoptotic genes. Progesterone Production also has several other benefits and effects.
