Sexually Transmitted Diseases are also known as Venereal diseases. These diseases can spread from one human being to another, or from one animal to other when they indulge in sexual activities and sexual contacts like oral sex, vaginal intercourse and anal sex. Sexually Transmitted Infections are also very harmful as a potentially infected person can spread the disease by coming into sexual contact with another human being.

There are persons who are infected but do not show any sign of the disease until an advanced stage. Sexually Transmitted Infections can be transmitted by infected needles, during childbirth and breastfeeding. These infections have plagued the mammal world for more centuries and centuries. However, Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) are not the same and are often confused by many. But, they are interlinked with each other as infections often lead to diseases.
Infections do not always make a person feel sick, and infections generally mean that a person is carrying a germ like parasite, virus or bacteria. The best way to prevent is by avoiding contact of fluids or body parts by which the transfer of the diseases is possible. Another way is to use condoms during sexual intercourse and also get tested for STIs before indulging in sexual activities. Abstinence can be another way to avert these diseases, but that is not always possible. So, one has to be careful during sexual acts and should take appropriate and necessary precautionary measures.
